Spor; bedeni veya zihni geliştirmek amacıyla kişisel veya toplu olarak gerçekleştirilen bazı kuralara göre uygulanan hareketlerin tümü olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Spor yönetimi ise sporda yönetimi meydana getiren unsurların en iyi şekilde sevk ve idaresini gerçekleştirmeye çalışma faaliyetleridir.İdari ve Mali alanda bir kurumun serbest karar alabilmesi anlamındaki özerklik son yıllarda spor yönetiminde oldukça yaygın uygulanmaya başlamıştır. Eleştirilen yönleri yanında özerkliğin spor yönetimindeki uygulaması bu çalışmada Türkiye Basketbol Federasyonu Örneği'nde incelenmiştir.

Management in sports can be described as all kind of management and administration elements that make up the best way of performing the sportive activities.Administrative and financial autonomy for an institution is spoken frequently in resent years for sports management. İn this study, the example of `Turkey Basketball Federation`, along with the criticized aspects of autonomy in sport management, will be evaluated.
