Periparturient dönem sütçü sığırlarda propilen glikol, methionin ve sodyum boratın metabolik profil üzerine etkileri

Abstract

In this study twenty four healthy Holstein cows in periparturient period were used. Effects of Propylene Glycol (PG) (500 g/d), Methionine (M) (15 g/d) and Sodium Borate (B) (30 g/d) on some hormone and serum metabolite were analyzed. To determine total protein (TP), albumin (ALB), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), total bilirubin (TBil) glucose, triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TChol) and some lipoproteins (LDL, VLDL, HDL), nonesterified fatty acids (NEFA), β- hydroxybutyrate (BHBA), insulin (I), glucagon (G), I/G and some serum enzymes (AST, ALT, GGT) blood samples were collected in prepartum (-15., -7. days) calving (0. Day) and postpartum (+7, +15 days) periods. During this study, while there was no alteration in ALT and GGT, AST activities in +7., +15. day were significantly higher from -15., -7. in all groups. Until calving day (-15 to 0 days), concentrations of BUN (p 0.05 for M, PG, B), glucose (p 0.05 for C; p 0.05 for PG, B, C) HDL, LDL, VLDL, TG, TChol (p< 0.05 for M, PG, B, C), concentrations tended to decreased. On calving day, insulin concentration of M, PG, and B (p< 0.05) groups decreased. When compared with C group, -7 day glucose concentration were higher in PG, M (p< 0.05) and B groups. Among the groups -15., -7., +7. day glucagon conceration were different (p< 0.05). In M (day +7) and B (day +15) groups, BHBA concentrations increased postpartum. The recorded alterations in metabolic profile after Methionine, Propylene Glycol and Sodium Borate applications demonstrated that these compaunds would be useful in healing the metabolic status in periparturient period.
