Abstract

Küreselleşmenin ürünlerinden biri olarak küresel kültür, gitgide kendine geniş yaşam alanları da bularak yaygınlaşmaktadır. Kuşkusuz, yaygınlaşmasında kitle iletişim araçlarının rolü yadsınamaz. Küreselleşme sürecinde aktif rol oynayan medya, medya sahipliği ve küreselleşme aktörlerinin birlikteliği bağlamında hakim kültürün diğer kültürler üzerinde başat rol oynamasına imkan sağlamaktadır. Bu doğrultuda çalışma, gerek yerel, gerekse küresel kültürün medya aracılığıyla yerelliklerin aleyhine olacak şekilde küreselleştiği varsayımından hareketle sınırlandırılmaktadır. Çalışmada, küreselleşmenin aktörlerine ait kültürün diğer kültürlere medya yoluyla benimsetildiği ve yerel kültürlerin medyalar aracılığıyla küreselleşme sürecinde kendilerini ifade etme imkanı bulduğu yolundaki iki farklı sorunsalın tartışılması, bununla birlikte yaşam biçimi, tüketim tarzı olarak alımlanan kültürün medyanın yaydığı küresel kültürün hegemonyası altında nasıl şekillendiğinin ortaya konulması amaçlanmaktadır.

The global culture as one of the products of globalisation, is more and more spreading out widely to new grounds. The obvious role of the mass media in this spreading can not be denied. Playing an active role in the globalisation process, on the base of the cooperation of media ownership and the globalisation actors, the mass media enables the dominant culture to rule over the other cultures. The starting point of this study is the assumption that both local and global culture as well are globalizing at the expense of all localities.The aim of this study is to discuss the claims that the culture of the globalization actors is imposed on the other cultures, and that local cultures find the means to express themselves in the globalisation process, further, to find out how culture as life style, consumption style is transformed under the hegemony of the global culture mediated by the media.
