An Experimental Investigation of Stopping Distance of Automobiles

Abstract

Fren sisteminin etkinliği ve performansı, frenleme başlangıcındaki taşıt hızının ve yavaşlama ivmesinin fonksiyonu olan durma mesafesine göre belirlenir. Fren performans parametreleri, çeşitli fren testleri ile araştırılmaktadır. Bu fren testleri, üretim aşamasında sertifika amaçlı yapıldığı gibi, frenleme hatalarının tespiti amaçlı da yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, çeşitli amaçlarla yapılan fren test yöntemleri araştırılmıştır. Yolda yapılan fren test yöntemleri ile ilgili deneyler yapılarak, frenleme mesafesinin tespit edilebilmesi için yeni bir yöntem geliştirilmiştir. Farklı bir yöntemle yapılan çalışma ile karşılaştırıldığında durma mesafesi eğilimlerinin aynı olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Uygulana yöntemin sonucunda elde edilen değerlerin doğruluğu yöntemin uygulanabilirliğinin göstergesidir

ABSTRACTBrake system performance is determined by stopping distance which is the function of vehicle velocity at the start of braking and deceleration. Brake performance parameters are investigated by applying various braking tests. These tests are carried out either for the purpose of certification at the production stage or the purpose of braking fault detection. In this experimental study, various braking test techniques have been investigated. A new method has been developed to determine the braking distance by means of the experiments conducted at road condition brake test techniques. It is determined that, stopping distance tendencies are the same, when it is compared with a different study. Correctness of the obtained values indicates practicability of the method.
