A research on Argulus foliaceus infection of three cyprinid fish species in lake dam emre, Afyonkarahisar

Abstract

In this study, the presence of Argulus foliaceus infection of 7 Cyprinus carpio, 28 Carassius auratus, 21 Carassius gibelio from Emre Dam Lake, were investigated between April 2006 and August 2007. The parasite was recorded on fins of C.carpio (28%, 1.0±0 parasite/fish); fins and skin of C.auratus (25%, 1.8±1.4); fins of C.gibelio (24%, 1.0±0). Minimum-maximum and mean intensity of each host fish and infection prevalence were determined using seasonal data, size and sex distribution of the host fish.
