Abstract

Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία εστιάζεται στη δημιουργία μιας πραγματικής πλατφόρμας δικτύου κινητής τηλεφωνίας GSM, κάνοντας χρήση του λογισμικού OpenBTS. Ο αναγνώστης θα έχει τη δυνατότητα να πληροφορηθεί για τα συστήματα κινητών επικοινωνιών όπως χαρακτηριστικά είναι το GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) και το GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) μελετώντας τις βασικές λειτουργίες κα διαδικασίες τους (λ.χ. το SMS). Πιο συγκεκριμένα, το GSM παρουσιάζεται ως το σύστημα που παρέχει όχι μόνο τη δυνατότητα μετάδοσης της φωνής, αλλά και των δεδομένων όπως fax, αρχείων kai εικόνων, αναφέροντας τη διαδικασία κλήσης από και προς τον Κινητό Σταθμό, το handover και το SMS (Shortest Message Service). Είναι γεγονός, βέβαια, όπως παρουσιάζεται και στην παρακάτω εργασία, ότι η ανάπτυξη αυτών των υπηρεσιών, όπως το SMS, το Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) και η ενσύρματη δικτύωση, οδήγησαν στην ανάπτυξη των προδιαγραφών του GPRS. Ο αναγνώστης θα μπορεί να μελετήσει την αρχιτεκτονική αυτού του συστήματος μέσω της ανάλυσης των δομικών στοιχείων αλλά και της περιγραφής των προσφερόμενων υπηρεσιών του όπως αυτά καταγράφονται. Σημαντικό ρόλο της εργασίας αυτής διαδραματίζει και η χρησιμοποίηση μιας προσομοίωσης, καθώς μέσω των αποτελεσμάτων της ο αναγνώστης θα είναι σε θέση να επεξεργαστεί και να μελετήσει τις δυνατότητες του GSM και του GPRS. Για τις ανάγκες της προσομοίωσης αυτής, αφού χρησιμοποιήθηκε συγκεκριμένος εξοπλισμός USRP (Universal Software Radio Peripheral), δημιουργήθηκε ένα πραγματικό σύστημα GSM 900 και GSM 1800, πάνω στα οποία μελετήθηκαν όλες οι λειτουργίες του GSM και του GPRS. Βασική συνδρομή της μελέτης αυτής αποτελούν και τα διάφορα γραφήματα, μέσω των οποίων παρουσιάζονται οι βασικές παράμετροι της ποιότητας της σύνδεσης, όταν υπάρχει κάποια ενεργή κλήση.
