Abstract

Differences between men and women in society show differences in many subjects such as education, health, employment, political participation and family life. In many societies, predicting women's first duty as maternity and housework and it prevents women from participating in employment and from political participation. Women make up half of the world's population, but today, in almost every country, men and women don't have equal conditions. Although local governments are more actively used by women in daily life, there is no representation of women in local governments. Something must be done, both in political participation and employment participation, to overcome obstacles in front of women and to ensure gender equality.In the first part of our thesis, information will be given about women's employment and the obstacles in front of women's employment will be mentioned and In the second chapter; information will be given abıut; political participation of women, obstacles in front of political participation and women representation in local administrations in Turkey. In the third chapter; the variables affecting women's participation in parliament and municipal councils will be analyzed.KEYWORDS: Women Employment, Political Participation, , Local Governments, Political Representation

Toplumda kadınlar ile erkekler arasında eğitim, sağlık, istihdam, siyasi katılım, aile hayatı gibi birçok konuda farklılıklar söz konusudur. Birçok toplumda kadınların ilk görevinin annelik ve ev işleri olarak öngörülmesi kadınları istihdama katılım ve siyasi katılımdan alıkoymaktadır. Dünya nüfusunun yarısını kadınlar oluşturmaktadır, ancak günümüzde hemen her ülkede kadınlarla erkekler eşit koşullara sahip değildir. Yerel yönetimlerin sağladığı hizmetler günlük hayatta kadınlar tarafından daha aktif kullanılmasına rağmen yerel yönetimlerde kadın temsili yok denecek kadar azdır, temsili bir orandan öteye gidememiştir. Gerek siyasi katılımda gerekse istihdama katılımda kadınların önündeki engellerin aşılması ve kadın erkek eşitliğini sağlamaya yönelik çalışmalar yapılmalıdır.Çalışmamızın ilk bölümünde kadın istihdamı ile bilgiler verilecek, kadın istihdamının önündeki engellere değinilecektir. İkinci bölümde; kadının siyasi katılımı, siyasi katılımın önündeki engeller ve Türkiye'de yerel yönetimlerde kadın temsili ile ilgili bilgiler verilecektir. Üçüncü bölümde ise; kadınların parlamento ve belediye meclisine katılımını etkileyen değişkenler hakkında analiz yapılacaktır.ANAHTAR SÖZCÜKLER: Kadın İstihdamı, Siyasi Katılım, Yerel Yönetimler,Siyasi Temsil.
