Abstract

Il ritorno dei nazionalismi emerge in una fase di riassetto strutturale del Sistema Internazionale, in cui il mondo unipolare a guida statunitense, emerso dopo il crollo dell'URSS nei primi anni Novanta, sembra ormai dover cedere definitivamente il passo a un sistema multipolare in cui nuove potenze emergenti, la Cina innanzitutto, vanno consolidandosi come attori internazionali di primo livello. In un più ampio scenario di mutamento, una delle regioni attraversate da maggior fermento è, indubbiamente, quella che approssimativamente ricomprende Medio Oriente e Nord Africa (MENA), protagonista di un decennio di rivolte, transizioni politiche, guerre civili e conflitti internazionali e per procura. Lo scenario globale, dunque, è in una fase di riassestamento tra trasformazioni economico-politico e interdipendenze complesse, come reso evidente dallo stesso impatto globale del Covid-19. In questo capitolo analizzeremo dapprima il livello internazionale nella sua fitta rete di interconnessioni economiche e produttive che più di altro ne hanno definito dinamiche e interazioni. Dedicheremo poi un focus specifico particolarmente sensibile agli eventi e alle trasformazioni in corso nelle aree più industrializzate del pianeta. In conclusione, una quasi inevitabile riflessione su come la pandemia del nuovo coronavirus potrebbe (ri)definire gli scenari del prossimo futuro.
