The paper is focus on the discussion about some problems regarding the masonry ancient building safeguard. Because we do not believe that the criteria of resistance, and therefore the classic elastic calculation, can well adapt to the study of historical masonry, the aim is to provide an alternative idea, if not properly a suggestion from our perspective, about the ways in which such historic buildings can be treated from the point of view of structural calculation, with methodologies that don't appear intrusive, but rather are respectful of the original conception with which these structures were made.
