Palazzi reali dei Borbone

Abstract

Nell’ambito dell’attività architettonica promossa dai Borbone, durante il lungo regno tra il Settecento e l’Ottocento, la costruzione o il rifacimento dei palazzi reali rappresenta senz’altro il principale manifesto della “magnificenza” dei sovrani. In questo saggio si analizzano gli interventi più interessanti condotti dai maggiori protagonisti del tempo, confrontandone i modelli architettonici con gli impianti dei palazzi reali europei, sottolineando però la forte influenza della committenza reale, e aggiornando la storiografia artistica attraverso documenti e disegni inediti, tra cui in particolare quelli sui palazzi di Capodimonte e di Palermo. Oltre alle regge si fa infine cenno ad alcuni edifici nobiliari che a seguito di particolari ricorrenze ospitarono i sovrani in visita nel Regno, trasformandosi per l’occasione in “palazzo reale”.
