Abstract

Che cosa si intende con genere e con sesso? In che modo la questione della dominazione maschile è stata discussa nel pensiero antropologico? Esistono solo due sessi e due generi? Come si strutturano i rapporti di oppressione basati sul genere nelle società umane? Che cosa significano i termini queer o “eteronormato”? Il volume propone un approccio antropologico fondato su indagini etnografiche per discutere, rispondere e, in certi casi, riformulare queste domande. La relazione tra antropologia e femminismo è il filo rosso che accompagna la storia della disciplina, i concetti fondamentali e i riferimenti etnografici illustrati. Il libro offre un percorso per studiare la variabilità delle esperienze in riferimento a genere, sessualità, famiglia, riproduzione, natura e cultura, intrecciando differenze di provenienza e cultura alle diseguaglianze di classe e razza. Gli argomenti trattati permettono di comprendere questa pluralità di esperienze ritornando sulla metodologia, sulle categorie e sui presupposti dell’analisi antropologica, senza smettere di interrogarsi sul reale.
