Abstract

Considerare la componente umana in architettura potrebbe sembrare una operazione ovvia e certamente non nuova, e numerosi sono gli esempi che dimostrano l’interesse dei progettisti verso forme e proporzioni ideate in virtù di una consonanza tra manufatti architettonici e caratteristiche umane. L’attenzione è però quasi sempre rivolta ad aspetti parziali, quali le dimensioni medie del corpo o i comportamenti stereotipati degli abitanti. L'articolo analizza il rapporto tra ergonomia e ambiente costruito, a partire dall'evoluzione del concetto di ambiente in ergonomia, e dal ruolo che la componente umana ha avuto nella progettazione architettonica. L'ergonomia si configura come una qualità globale e relazionale dell'ambiente costruito, oltre a rappresentare un approccio disciplinare che offre criteri metodologi e strumenti operativi utili alla progettazione di spazi di vita e di lavoro realmente supportivi per gli occupanti.
