Abstract

Il testo realizzato è completamento scritto da autori italiani, molti dei quali sono specialisti dei gruppi animali oggetto del loro contributo; è calibrato sulle esigenze di un corso breve e compatto di Zoologia sistematica per le lauree triennali di tipo biologico e naturalistico previste dall’attuale ordinamento universitario. La trattazione volutamente semplice rende il testo utilizzabile anche in altri corsi di laurea. Ogni capitolo è stato scritto dagli autori sulla base della propria esperienza scientifica e della propria esperienza didattica, nell’avere adattato l’insegnamento del vario, complesso e vasto mondo degli animali a corsi di laurea di primo livello. Questo volume è completamente dedicato alla descrizione dei principali phyla animali: tre soli capitoli iniziali sono dedicati ai fondamenti della vita animale: il primo e il secondo capitolo definiscono in modo semplice la diversità e l’evoluzione della complessità dell’architettura del corpo animale. Il terzo capitolo è dedicato alle gerarchie tassonomiche e ai metodi di studio delle relazioni filogenetiche tra i gruppi animali, con particolare riguardo alla moderna sistematica molecolare.
