Analysis of a MUC1 glycoprotein from water buffalo milk fat globule membrane was performed on SDS-PAGE. The electrophoretic pattern, analogous to those of the human, cow, and goat MUC1, suggest that water buffalo mucin may be controlled by three codominant alleles at a VNTR locus.
