Abstract

Nel "Discorso sulla poesia" (1953), Salvatore Quasimodo scriveva: «Faremo un giorno una carta poetica del Sud; e non importa se toccherà la Magna Grecia ancora, il suo cielo sopra le immagini imperturbabili d’innocenza e di sensi accecanti. Là forse sta nascendo la permanenza della poesia». Lavorando sulle relazioni che intercorrono fra letteratura e geografia, e cioè su un’idea di spazio geografico inteso come veicolo di interpretazione testuale; e, insieme, su un’idea di spazio letterario inteso come strumento per comprendere l’identità plurale di un territorio, questo libro prende spunto proprio dall’intuizione di Quasimodo per proporre una mappatura e un approfondimento delle più significative esperienze poetiche contemporanee che si sono sviluppate nell’Italia meridionale, cioè in un’area tradizionalmente trascurata dal dibattito critico più influente, con l’obiettivo di isolare, attraverso l’analisi di alcuni testi esemplari, le caratteristiche essenziali di un immaginario legato-al-luogo.
