Abstract

Il contributo propone una riflessione sulla categoria di archivio che, in alcune teorie semiotiche, è assolutamente fondante, al punto da poter dire forse che il senso stesso (oggetto, per definizione, della semiotica) finisce per pensarsi come archivio. In particolare verranno prese in considerazione due proposte semiotiche – quella di Umberto Eco e quella di Juri Lotman –, significative non solo della stretta interdipendenza che può darsi tra teoria del senso e categoria di archivio, ma interessanti anche per le prospettive che esse aprono nel ripensamento del «principio archivistico» così come oggi, nella società digitale in cui viviamo, si dà. Nel dialogo fra queste posizioni semiotiche e la teoria di Michel Foucault, che ha tematizzato in modo radicalmente originale il nesso tra archivio e regolazione del senso, si riflette su come usi e pratiche dei significati, tracce del già detto e nuove trasposizioni interpretative, vadano a rinnovare in un senso dinamico il «principio archivistico», tra vincolo e potenziamento creativo, messa in memoria e apertura.
