The present work describes a revisited version of the method for generating nonstationary accelerograms originally proposed by Sabetta and Pugliese (1996). This method adopts four ground motion parameters – Arias intensity, duration, central frequency and frequency bandwidth – to approximate the spectrograms of the accelerograms to be generated. In the present work, new attenuation relationships have been developed for the aforementioned parameters using ground motion data from the Next Generation Attenuation (NGA) database.
