Colorazioni speciali in citologia diagnostica

Abstract

Nella diagnostica citopatologica veterinaria la maggior parte delle situazioni è risolta con l’osservazione di strisci colorati con colorazioni ematologiche quali il May Grünwald-Giemsa (MGG) o altre colorazioni rapide. In alcuni casi, tuttavia, permangono dubbi riguardo la natura di materiali, granulazioni, vacuoli colorati in modo non sufficientemente specifico con i metodi di routine. Nella diagnostica istologica queste situazioni di incertezza, che si presentano con la stessa frequenza che nella citologia, vengono quotidianamente affrontate affiancando alla colorazione di routine ematossilina eosina altre colorazioni, dette “speciali” e “istochimiche”. La caratteristica fondamentale di queste colorazioni è quella di essere in grado di identificare specifiche sostanze o componenti tessutali mediante reazioni chimiche o fisiche, talvolta ben documentate, altre volte solo empiricamente osservate. Poiché gli stessi metodi possono essere facilmente applicati con buoni risultati anche ai preparati citologici, scopo di questa relazione è passare sinteticamente in rassegna le principali colorazioni speciali realizzabili in citologia, ricordando le sostanze che possono essere svelate e le principali patologie in cui tali metodi possono essere indicati.
