Fuggire dalla periferia? Dinamiche residenziali in una periferia napoletana

Abstract

Contrariamente all’idea dominante secondo cui chi abita luoghi periferici considerati dai media come simboli dei problemi socio-urbani delle città, voglia fuggire per abitare in quartieri caratterizzati da una maggior qualità della vita, questo contributo mette in luce la grande complessità che attraversa le scelte residenziali messe in atto dagli abitanti di un quartiere stigmatizzato a fronte dei cambiamenti della composizione del nucleo familiare di origine. L’indagine è stata effettuata in un quartiere della periferia nord di Napoli, un luogo emblematico in virtù dei forti processi di stigmatizzazione che lo coinvolgono e che, più in generale, interessano gran parte delle periferie europee che ospitano i grandi complessi residenziali pubblici. Eppure, lontano da questa lettura stigmatizzante, a Scampia, quartiere al centro dell’indagine, molte famiglie vedono la possibilità di risiedervi come un fattore centrale dell’organizzazione familiare e sociale. Sulla base del materiale raccolto nel corso di due ricerche etnografiche effettuate tra il 2010 e il 2015, cercheremo di restituire le strategie messe in atto da molte famiglie di residenti per poter continuare a risiedere all’interno del quartiere
