Abstract

I GESSI DELL’EMILIA-ROMAGNA TRA NATURA E CULTURA. UNA SINTESI REGIONALE - L’Emilia-Romagna è tra le poche regioni dell’Italia settentrionale ad ospitare cospicui affioramenti gessosi, sia triassici nell’alto Appennino, sia messiniani nel basso Appennino. Accanto al loro valore ambientale, questi depositi sono caratterizzati da una rilevante dimensione culturale, frutto di millenni di condizionamenti e interazione tra comunità locali e substrato evaporitico. Il saggio propone una sintesi su scala regionale dei termini più significativi di tale intersezione, da temi “materiali” come l’utilizzo umano delle cavità naturali o l’attività estrattiva tra passato e presente, a temi “immateriali”, come ad esempio le rappresentazioni folkloriche e letterarie legate ai paesaggi carsici gessosi. Dal punto di vista cronologico, il contributo si focalizza sull’età moderna e sull’età contemporanea, dedicando solo rapidi cenni ai periodi precedenti.
