Dal villaggio a Megalopoli. Per una critica del gigantismo/1

Abstract

L’ambiente della vita umana e non umana, oggetto privilegiato delle attenzioni dell’urbanistica, è al centro delle preoccupazioni ecologiste. Tra anni ’70 e ’80, il pensiero ecologista individua i principi teorici che avrebbero potuto informare la gestione delle città e dei territori e li mette in pratica in rivoli di esperienze microterritoriali, germi di mondi possibili. Il presente ragionamento, imperniato sulla «mutazione genetica» delle discipline preposte alla gestione del territorio, parte dalla multiforme proposta ecologista e, narrandone il tradimento attuato (a parte qualche notevole eccezione) dagli urbanisti, approda all’odierna ideologia improntata al gigantismo insediativo. Un’ideologia totalitaria che incorona Megalopoli quale unica possibile forma di vita aggregata. Aggiornata politicamente nella «città-Stato», neoecosistema artificiale che accentra il potere economico-politico di macroregioni desertificate, Megalopoli porta il pianeta sul baratro dell’ecocidio.
