Abstract

La citoyenneté européenne, dont chaque citoyen du continent jouit en théorie, est en réalité un droit manqué, dans le sens où un droit que personne n’a connaissance d’avoir est un droit qui n’existe pas. La grande partie des citoyens européens ne savent pas qu’ils possèdent une citoyenneté européenne et par conséquent, ils n’en connaissent pas non plus les droits et devoirs qui en découlent. Ils ne savent pas qu’ils ont un élément si important en commun avec les autres citoyens européens et donc, c’est comme si on leur volait un droit de citoyenneté. Le principal fossé démocratique réside en l’ignorance, l’analphabétisme de base, qui empêche le plus simple droit de citoyenneté, à savoir être au fait qu’il existe une citoyenneté européenne.
