Abstract

Coerentemente con l'impostazione del volume, il saggio - dopo avere trattato brevemente della natura dei sistemi federali - affronta le questioni che, nell'ambito del fenomeno federale, hanno acquisito rilevanza nell'ultimo ventennio: le reazioni ai pluridecennali processi di accentramento del potere in sistemi come quello tedesco e statunitense e le conseguenti, recenti, tendenze verso un rafforzamento del ruolo delle entità federate; la differenziazione interna di Stati unitari verso forme istituzionali più o meno prossime al modello federale (Belgio, Spagna, Italia, Gran Bretagna); il nesso tra l'adozione di forme federali e il problema della presenza di minoranze nazionali all'interno del sistema politico e il dibattito collegato relativo al federalismo asimmetrico e alla sua giustificazione teorica; l'integrazione europea come processo di federalizzazione.
