Abstract

Francisco José Barata Fernandes è nato a Porto nel 1950 e nella stessa città ha compiuto il corso di studi in architettura. È professore di Progettazione architettonica presso la Facoltà di Architettura dell’Università di Porto di cui presiede il Consiglio Scientifico. Con la cultura architettonica italiana contemporanea e storica, ha intrecciato un lungo e proficuo rapporto di studio e di scambio. È stato autore di importanti studi sulla sua città e sull’architettura contemporanea e coordinatore degli studi che hanno portato al riconoscimento della regione vinicola dell’Alto Douro come patrimonio UNESCO nel 2001. È autore di importanti progetti di architettura, undici dei quali sono esposti in questa mostra, che denunciano una particolare sensibilità al tema della convivenza dell’architettura contemporanea con il patrimonio storico dell’architettura.
