Il caso Metropol’

Abstract

l’affare Metropol’ mette a nudo le forti funzioni censorie esercitate dall’Unione degli scrittori in URSS. Questo case study ci consente di descrivere nel dettaglio il funzionamento di una importante istituzione culturale dell’epoca della stagnazione, che svolge forti funzioni censorie e parzialmente si sostituisce al Glavlit. Inoltre, dallo studio del caso Metropol’ emerge che, in un momento particolare come il 1979, quando la macchina censo-ria sembrava lanciare segnali distensivi, la sfida lanciata dagli autori dell’almanacco Metropol’ susci-ta da parte dello stato una reazione di stampo arcaico. Dall’esame dei documenti si desume che le supreme istanze di partito e i servizi segreti erano al corrente di quanto stava accadendo, ma decisero di affidare la soluzione del caso agli apparatčiki dell’Unione degli scrittori che, ignorando le nuove tattiche della censura (sorveglianza, catalogazione degli umori della società, prevenzione), ricorsero all’ostracismo ed alla repressione, rivelando la struttura composita dell’istituto censorio.
