Guido Canella e lo spazio teatrale

Abstract

Guido Canella ha affermato più volte la sua passione per il teatro e lo spazio scenico. Rimandi e trascrizioni sull’architettura del teatro e lo spazio scenico in generale sono alla base di molti progetti di Canella anche quando non sono veri e propri edifici teatrali. Dunque il teatro come un modo di pensare all’architettura e allo spazio collettivo. Canella era convinto della “vitalità del luogo teatrale nella costruzione della città”. Questioni che Canella ha evidenziato in maniera indiretta focalizzando l’attenzione sul valore simbolico e culturale dell’edificio teatrale e il ruolo civile importante che esso può svolgere all’interno della città. Un’attenzione sistematizzata già nei primi lavori di ricerca per “Il sistema teatrale a Milano”. Il teatro un tema di architettura civile diventa infatti il tema principale o un “sottotema” importante nel caratterizzare i nuovi edifici collettivi che struttureranno la nuova città (la giovane città), la periferia, l’hinterland milanese, diventando capisaldi in luoghi in cui la forma della città si va perdendo, cercando di caratterizzare i luoghi dell’indistinto, di fissare dei centri significativi in rapporto alle espansioni residenziali.
