This chapter addresses the representation of the Iraqi war in BBC news reports. The chapter focuses on the role of the media in communicating ideological discourse. It discusses the systematic patterns of choice of images amongst the options available within semiotic codes according to political, ideological and cultural predilections and predispositions and communicative purpose.
