Abstract

La disponibilità di un documento cartografico storico in ambiente digitale, con la salvaguardia delle proprietà metriche native, non è solamente un modo per conservare sottoforma di copia fedele questo prezioso Bene Culturale, proteggendolo dall’effetto deleterio del tempo e rendendolo più facilmente accessibile al pubblico, ma è anche il mezzo per avviare un ampio spettro di ricerche ed applicazioni, a carattere multidisciplinare e multitemporale, legate allo studio dell’evoluzione del territorio nel tempo, spesso non attuabili col solo supporto analogico. Nell’ambito del progetto "Ritratti di città in un interno" questo tema ha assunto un grande rilievo, non coinvolgendo solo aspetti strettamente tecnici. Il presente capitolo farà riferimento principalmente all’esperienza relativa alla cartografia storica bolognese (Catasto Gregoriano ottocentesco e carta Monari-Laghi 1711-12), descrivendo il processo di recupero della cartografia antica in ambiente digitale nelle sue tre fasi principali: acquisizione, analisi metrica, elaborazione e gestione del dato in ambiente digitale.
