Abstract

Il capitolo descrive la filiera di produzione di modelli 3D digitali mediante l'impiego di Laser scanner a tempo di volo (ToF) e a triangolazione: Caratterizzazione di scanner 3D; Acquisizione dei dati; Registrazione delle scansioni; Fusione delle nuvole di punti e generazione della mesh; Editing e post-processing della mesh; Smoothing; Decimazione; Errore di approssimazione; Semplificazione geometrica vs. semplificazione basata sulla semantica; Remeshing; Realizzazione di modelli 3D foto-realistici; Controllo di qualità. Vengono spiegate le metodologie e gli approcci. In particolare sono trattati gli aspetti tecnici, metodologici e procedurali relativi all'impiego del laser scanner ai fini del rilievo e delle realizzazione dei modelli 3D.
