Abstract

La Russkaja pravda (lett. ‘legge russa’ o ‘verità russa’) è il più antico documento giuridico slavo (in precedenza si utilizzavano compendi della legislazione bizantina, come il Zakon sudnyj ljudem, tradotto in Bulgaria alla fine del IX secolo). La Russkaja pravda ci è pervenuta in codici dei secc. XIII-XVIII. Il suo nucleo più antico, che costituisce la redazione breve, fu composto ai tempi di Jaroslav il Saggio (1018-1054) e dei suoi figli, e fu progressivamente ampliato sotto i sovrani successivi, per regolamentare le complesse relazioni del sistema sociale slavo orientale. In particolare, la Russkaja pravda testimonia la crescente limitazione delle libertà dei contadini e dei servi, ma anche la tendenza a ridurre il ricorso alla vendetta di sangue, riservandone l’uso legittimo ai parenti più prossimi della vittima (in assenza dei quali si prevede il pagamento di una multa).
