L'articolo consiste nel profilo biografico di Massimo Mila (1910-1988), musicologo italiano, eminente personalità intellettuale del Novecento italiano: storico e critico della musica, esponente della cosiddetta critica "militante", fondatore della casa editrice Einaudi - insieme a Leone Ginzburg, Cesare Pavese e Giulio Einaudi - organizzatore culturale, collaboratore di riviste, antifascista, docente in Conservatorio e all'Università, fine scrittore.
