The monographic section presents an overview of the current state of urban aesthetics (A. Borsari) and aims to contribute to the reflection on its issues and problems, focusing on, respectively: some aesthetic categories of urban experience, such as «atmospheres», «rhythms», «ruins», «terrain vague», «cityscape» (N. Fonseca); some of the different forms of contemporary art and how they affect the overall urban aesthetic and experiential dimension (S. Lehtinen); how it is possible to write about urban experience by taking a cue from Georges Perec’s case analysis of a Parisian place (H. Reeh); the explanatory effectiveness of the philosophical direction of somaesthetics with respect to urban phenomena through a dialogue with its founder Richard Shusterman (A. Alison, A. Borsari)
