Jack Mezirow’s transformative learning theory is in Italy, in spite of its relevance, less known than other perspectives about adult learning and education. Learning is, in this author’s view, a problem solving activity, which involves the meaning making of experience through “meaning perspectives” and their transformation. Mezirow’s theory is also observed through the critical point of view of scholars (like J. Dirkx), who, whilst they share the same general theory, point out some of its possible integrations.
