Il cosmopolitismo contemporaneo

Abstract

Dai tempi dei Greci, l'idea del cosmopolitismo, inteso come realtà sociale inclusiva delle differenze, è oggetto di studio e riflessioni. Angela Taraborrelli descrive la nascita e lo sviluppo dei diversi cosmopolitismi contemporanei - morale, etico, etico-culturale e politico-legale distinguendo due grandi filoni di pensiero, quello nordamericano e quello europeo. Esistono infatti significative differenze che caratterizzano queste due versioni sia per quanto riguarda il contesto politico-intellettuale in cui si sono sviluppate e le domande di fondo che le hanno generate, sia per gli obiettivi che si sono prefissi e gli strumenti che hanno previsto per realizzarli. I teorici dell'area nordamericana, quasi del tutto sconosciuti in Italia e qui introdotti per la prima volta, si sono interessati prevalentemente al problema della giustizia distributiva globale. I teorici dell'area europea, sull'onda delle aspettative suscitate dalla caduta del muro di Berlino e dall'espansione della democrazia conseguente alla dissoluzione dell'Unione Sovietica e ispirati dall'esperimento dell'Unione Europea, hanno applicato invece l'ideale cosmopolitico agli schemi di un ordine politico-legale mondiale e hanno elaborato progetti di ingegneria e di riforma istituzionale miranti a scongiurare eventuali o già noti deficit di democrazia a livello statale, regionale e globale.
