Abstract

Il testo ripercorre alcuni dei prodotti più significativi del trasporto per il viaggio on the road, individua- le o strettamente condiviso, evidenziando da un lato le tendenze di innovazione contemporanea ed evocando la tradizione culturale radicata per questi prodotti. Le diverse tipologie dei mezzi pongono una riflessione sul ruolo del design in un contesto fortemente condizionato sia dalla tecnologia, sia dal carattere emozionale del “viaggio e della libertà”. La valenza formale è scabra della contemporaneità a favore di stilemi forti e radicati che si asso- ciano a dei valori intrinseci della casa, della libertà, della sicurezza. L’abitare in movimento, quando il mezzo è anche abitazione temporanea; il mezzo a due ruote, bicicletta o motocicletta, quindi gli accessori necessari ad essi integrati, sono le principali tracce definite nel testo, ritenendo tale elencazione non sufficiente a racchiudere tutto lo scenario dei mezzi per il viaggio, piuttosto a sottolinearne quelli più diffusi in un contesto peculiare di riferimento.
