Abstract

La ISS si aggira sopra di noi da più di 20 anni; un potente promemoria di ciò che l’umanità può raggiungere quando è guidata dallo spirito di cooperazione e dalla curiosità. Nel frattempo, tuttavia, il suo futuro si è fatto incerto e l’esplorazione spaziale sembra seguire interessi privati, relegando i ricordi delle epoche di grandi imprese nell’oscurità dello spazio. La mappa ISS Sweetheart prende ispirazione nel nome dal titolo inglese del romanzo La ragazza dello Sputnik, scritto da Haruki Murakami, e ne riprende nelle intenzioni il tema dell’intangibilità del contatto tra due soggetti lontani, come le persone che osservano con meraviglia dalla Terra le missioni spaziali e gli astronauti immersi nel buio dello spazio. Nel caso della Stazione Spaziale Internazionale, la libera circolazione di dati e contenuti attraverso siti web e social media permette da anni un incontro altrimenti impossibile, avvicinando le persone al progresso scientifico e tecnologico della nostra specie.
