Abstract

La “rovina” ha un ruolo fondamentale nell’esperienza psichica e sensoriale dell’uomo: ci fa perdere in una prospettiva temporale profonda che nutre il nostro innato bisogno d’infinito. Ogni risorsa archeologica è, di fatto e da sempre, un referente primario per il progetto dell’architettura. Ma altrettanto importante è oggi allargare lo sguardo e indagare la dimensione ampia e la natura complessa dei paesaggi che quelle rovine accolgono. Claude Raffestin ci ha insegnato come il paesaggio sia innanzitutto un’immagine densa e colma di pensiero, che va al di là della semplice forma esteriore delle cose. Un’immagine che, con ancor più evidenza in quelli archeologici, trattiene assenze e perdite che sono però un problema per chi con esse vuole confrontarsi non solo in senso contemplativo o conservativa. Da un lato perdite e assenze chiedono infatti di essere ricomposte nel progetto con interventi che ne restituiscano una leggibilità; dall’altro tale ricomposizione non può occupare l’intero spazio del progetto, pena l’indebolimento dell’immagine stessa di quel paesaggio.
