L'Adriatico nel medioevo

Abstract

Autor opisuje najvažnija obilježja srednjovjekovne povijesti Jadrana, poglavito u razdoblju od 11. do 15. stoljeca. Iako je pomorska dimenzija utjecala i potaknula širenje politickih i društvenih modela iz središnje i sjeverne Italije na istocnu obalu Jadrana, prije svega komunalnog uredenja, te je objedinila udaljena mjesta, isto je tako svaki zasebni dio obale razvio svoje vlastito iskustvo koje ce postati temeljem procesima tzv. regionalizacije, a koja ce se odvijati nakon srednjovjekovnih stoljeca. Oko zajednickog mora primjecuju se razlike izmedu teritorija Kraljevine Sicilije, zatim Napuljskog kraljevstva, podrucja pod vlašcu Papinske Države, posjeda Mlecana, zemalja Ugarsko-Hrvatske krune i onih srpske ili bizantske pripadnosti. U svakom slucaju, presudan je bio politicki i pomorski uspon Venecije, pogotovo dogadaji nakon cetvrtog križarskog rata iz 1202.-1204., kada je grad na lagunama proširio svoj suverenitet na Dalmaciju, a zatim i na Istru. Od 11. stoljeca nadalje može se govoriti o Venecijanskom zaljevu, iako su od 1358. do 1381. Ugarska i Genova doveli u krizu vladavinu Mlecana. Medutim, pocetkom 15. stoljeca Presvijetla Republika se oporavila i ubrzo dostigla svoj vrhunac u kontroli obale i mora (55).

L’autore illustra le caratteristiche salienti della storia medievale dell’Adriatico, in particolare durante i secoli XI-XV. Attorno al mare comune si colgono le diversità tra il regno di Sicilia, poi di Napoli, i territori dello Stato della Chiesa, i domini di Venezia, le terre sotto corona ungherese e quelli di pertinenza serba e bizantina. Decisiva fu l’ascesa politica e marittima di Venezia, in particolare dopo la quarta crociata del 1202-1204, quando la città lagunare estese la sua sovranità in Dalmazia e poi in Istria.
