Abstract

Il volume affronta il tema delle decorazioni sulla foglia d’oro (punzoni, incisioni e “dorature a missione”) nella pittura veneziana del Trecento e del primo Quattrocento, evidenziandone il legame strettissimo con l’arte orafa del tempo. La rassegna di articoli propone nuove chiavi di lettura per la storia della pittura a Venezia, affrontando la produzione di artisti come Paolo e Lorenzo Veneziano, Nicolò di Pietro e Jacobello del Fiore, sino ad esaminare il capitolo fondamentale delle miniature sotto cristallo e degli smalti. La ricerca è corredata da un ricco apparato fotografico e dalle preziose tabelle dei punzoni e delle incisioni che furono usati da intere generazioni di pittori e orafi in laguna.
