Direct and reverse operation of hydraulic machines can be interrelated by means of a theoretical expression that is instrumental in the prediction of the turbine H-Q values from pump performance curves. Tests have been carried out on four machine configurations in order to verify the validity of the procedure. Results furnished by present method are finally compared with those predicted by current empirical relationships.
