Abstract

Nella prima parte si cercano le radici della Pedagogia sociale, a partire da suggestioni che risalgono al mondo antico, per poi delineare le origini concettuali e lo sviluppo disciplinare della pedagogia sociale in quanto tale, nel contesto del dibattito pedagogico contemporaneo. La seconda parte del volume è dedicata ad alcuni grandi temi della Pedagogia sociale, a partire dalle linee orientative di politica formativa a livello internazionale (UNESCO, OCSE, Unione Europea) che vengono affrontate in modo sistematico. Si affrontano poi i temi delle "città educative" e dell'educazione sociale e civica nelle scuole italiane. Tutto il testo dedica grande attenzione alla cultura professionale di educatori e formatori che ricevono un vero e proprio "mandato sociale" a cui rispondono mobilitando le migliori risorse della propria identità culturale e personale.
