This paper deals with the role of information flow and telecommunication services for Quick Response in the textile-apparel industry. A descrtiptive and interpretative model which has been verified by experts in that sector is proposed. This model anallyses the sequence of the activities and decisions of the whole textile-apparel chain. The model, complete with cases and examples, serves to underline the possibilities as well as the types of changes wich are necessary, in particular as regards information flows and the technologies which makes it possible to reduce the typical lead times in the textile-apparel industry. [....] In conclusion, telecommunication services are a necessary but not sufficient condition, to obtain QR, in that they have to be accompanied by radical changes in organizational and technical factors.
