The last decade of the 20th century have been characterized by significant migration movements. The effects are due to globalization, technological changes and new means of transport. Furthermore, some dramatic political events have determined and facilitated the flow of people leaving their own country in search for better living conditions.Hence, the volume and structure of international migration and the number of countries involved in human movements have increasingly risen. Italy has also been involved in this complex phenomenon to such an extent that it can be considered one of the major social and demographic issues in the last decade. Many meetings have periodically taken place between the political representatives of the provinces of Ascoli and Teramo in order to measure and analyse subjects regarding possible common initiatives in the field of economic and social development.
