La città e il mare. Identità mediterranea e diversità culturale in Slovenia e a Trieste: memorie delle "aleksandrinke".

Abstract

In quest'articolo, svolgo un'analisi del suddetto processo di elaborazione e addomesticamento culturale del mare in Slovenia e a Trieste, a partire dagli anni 90 del secolo scorso. Prendo in considerazione alcune ricerche storiche che hanno avuto più ampia divulgazione, le politiche culturali, la produzione mass-mediatica, artistica e letteraria. L'obiettivo è di mostrare come il mare, e in particolare il mare Adriatico (Mediterraneo) mediato dalla città di Trieste, costituisca un filone culturalmente produttivo in termini di diversità e pluralità a causa dell'opposizione tra la natura ambivalente e perturbante dell'elemento marittimo associato alla città portuale vis-à-vis una rappresentazione rassicurante della Slovenia come paese continentale e rurale fermamente ancorato a terra. A tal fine, mi soffermo in modo particolare sulla rinnovata popolarità della riscoperta di una vicenda storica specifica: le aleksandrike (alessandrine), ovvero la storia della migrazione di donne dalle campagne slovene delle province occidentali della Slovenia, specialmente l'area goriziana, verso l'Egitto. Ed in particolare verso la città di Alessandria che dopo l'apertura del canale di Suez era diventata una città cosmopolita in forte crescita economica.
