Il saggio ripercorre la formazione del concetto di Wissenssoziologie elaborato in Karl Mannheim tramite l'interpretazione che ne viene data storicamente in Max Scheler. Il saggio esamina i rapporti di questo autore con il pensiero occidentale e l'influenza di questo sulla sociologia della conoscenza.
