Abstract

Il Libro ha come principale obiettivo la rilettura critica degli aspetti progettuali, tecnici, costruttivi dell’opera di Giuseppe Terragni prendendo ad esame i progetti che l’architetto comasco ha realizzato per la città di Roma. Le opere romane permettono di inquadrare e delineare con efficacia la complessa figura di un architetto che sposò con determinazione la battaglia per l’avanguardia architettonica italiana, pur confrontandosi con l’esigenza di andare incontro sia alle istanze di tradizione volute dal fascismo, sia alla personale volontà di coniugare il linguaggio Razionale con un indefinito spirito mediterraneo. Il lavoro vuole inoltre mettere in evidenza il rapporto tra Terragni e i sui collaboratori, in particolare gli artisti, che hanno avuto un ruolo importante nell’elaborazione dei progetti architettonici, attraverso una serie di schizzi ed elaborati grafici rinvenuti grazie al prezioso sostegno dei principali istituti archivistici.
