Realtà virtuale per il restauro: il caso della Sala delle Cariatidi

Abstract

La collaborazione con la Soprintendenza Regionale ai Beni Architettonici e Ambientali della Lombardia Orientale e con l’Istituto Centrale del Restauro in occasione dell’intervento di restauro della Sala delle Cariatidi di Palazzo Reale a Milano è stata per il Laboratorio di Virtual Prototyping e Reverse Modeling del Dipartimento INDACO del Politecnico di Milano l’occasione per una sperimentazione a vasto raggio delle metodologie di applicazione delle tecnologie digitali nel campo del rilievo, della valorizzazione dei beni culturali e come supporto di attività progettuali nel campo del restauro. Il progetto, complesso e assai ambizioso ha infatti interessato diverse aree tra cui: il rilevamento architettonico e l’acquisizione di dati tridimensionali; le tecniche di visualizzazione immersiva in realtà virtuale; la prototipazione rapida e virtuale, che sono state esplorate sinergicamente nelle due articolazioni in cui il contributo del nostro gruppo di ricerca si è articolato.
