Greek recession at stake: the short-term evolution of territorial disparities in declared income

Abstract

The recent economic development in Greece provides a unique opportunity for examining the short-term sensitivity of regional systems to expansion and recession verifying as well the crisi' overall impact on regional disparities. Our approach aims to analyse district economic performances taken as a powerful factor influencing the potential for reducing regional disparities. This approach provides further insight in the geography of economic development pointing out the variables contributing to the consolidation of regional disparities in Greece.
