Abstract

Lo studio e l’interpretazione di elementi appartenenti al patrimonio archeologico è sempre un’attività molto impegnativa che include un’ampia gamma di soggetti e competenze multidisciplinari. Le continue innovazioni sul piano strumentale consentono di utilizzare un approccio integrato che offre vantaggi a tutte le figure coinvolte nell’intero processo documentale. La stretta collaborazione tra architetti e archeologi, che ha caratterizzato l’attività di ricerca condotta negli ultimi anni, ha permesso di comprendere gli elementi chiave del patrimonio archeologico sulla base di considerazioni derivanti dall’analisi storica, e di disporre di una vasta quantità di informazioni acquisite attraverso le potenzialità offerte dalla tecnologia digitale.Questo contributo vuole esporre il lavoro svolto, in linea con indirizzi di ricerca che hanno come obiettivo la documentazione, l’analisi, l’interpretazione di contesti archeologici, illustrandone i fondamenti culturali e le procedure operative.

The development of techniques for acquiring and elaborating 3D models, made them pivotal elements for popularizing information of objects on the urban scale and architectonic structures. The objective is to present the way in which digital technologies allow us to document, preserve and evaluate archaeology. Digital 3D data makes possible an integrated intrerpretation of heterogegeous data and a redefinition of the very concept of representation by linking it to the concept of information
