La Sociologia Visuale tra episteme e metodo

Abstract

Nell'ambito delle scienze sociali la sociologia visuale può essere considerato un approccio conoscitivo fondamentale che si avvale di metodi e tecniche specifici. Essa si distingue dalla fotografia documentaria e giornalistica poiché l’atto dell’osservare e del fotografare fa riferimento a concetti e teorie sociologiche. In questo saggio si ripercorrere la storia della fotografia sociale in relazione alla nascita della sociologia, per disvelare un destino comune che fin dell'epoca del positivismo aveva accomunato la scoperta del mezzo fotografico e la nascente scienza dell'uomo. Fulcro dell'intero lavoro l'analisi della sociologia visuale sul piano epistemologico e metodologico, con riferimento ai principali autori classici e - in particolare - alle opere di Pierre Bourdieu. A chiudere il saggio l'analisi degli assunti teorici e delle tecniche dell’analisi visuale e lo studio dei codici mediante i quali interpretare il dato iconico.
